Rene O. Villanueva, a Filipino dramatist and children’s book author who lived from September 1954 to December 2007, made his mark on Philippine literature in the late 1970s and far into the first decade of the twenty-first century. His prodigious output, which sustains interest in his plays and young adult books, demonstrates his tremendous contribution to Filipino culture.
