Jose De la Cruz, commonly known as Huseng Sisiw, was born on December 21, 1746, in Tondo, Manila, and is best known as the tutor of Florante at Laura novelist Francisco Balagtas. Despite his lack of schooling, he is reigned as Hari ng mga Makata sa Katagalugan. He teaches himself Katon cartilla and Doctrina Cristina and uses this expertise to make a name for himself.
